Monday 19th June 2023

Dear families,

As I write to you with updates for the coming weeks our Year 11 and Year 13 students are concluding their examination period. It remains a source of joy to watch them leave the exam halls filled with relief and excitement that another paper or subject has been chalked off, and that they have given it their all. I would like to congratulate them all for their hard work and I shall look forward to celebrating their results in August.

Universal Free School Meals

You may have heard that Tower Hamlets will be rolling out Universal Free School Meals for all students in Years 7 – 11. For Stepney All Saints School this is anticipated to start at some point between September – January. We are still awaiting further details and will keep you updated with a start date for our school.

Free School Meal funding is also linked to Pupil Premium funding for students from homes with a low income and/or who receive benefits. Therefore, you must still register your child for free school meals. This funding makes a real difference to improve the educational resources and provision we provide at Stepney All Saints.

Please complete the following form – https://pps.lgfl.org.uk/. It is a quick process requiring your child’s details, and your details including your national insurance number.

We appreciate you taking the time to complete this form to help obtain further funding to support your child in school.

Enrichment

It is an expectation in our school that all students in Key Stage 3 attend a weekly enrichment activity. Currently, students are applying for their Platinum Award / Enrichment Passport in which they demonstrate a commitment to activities both in and outside of school. Enrichment benefits students mentally, socially and physically. Most importantly, it helps to create well rounded individuals and develop essential life skills.

I would in particular like to congratulate students across Key Stage 3 who recently attended the British Red Cross First Aid workshop. This involved students in learning essential first aid skills, helping them to build the confidence and willingness to help someone in an emergency.

Please speak to your child and discuss what enrichment activities they are attending to ensure that they too are benefiting from our offer. Full details can be found on our school website HERE.

Stepney All Saints Funfair

All students in Years 7-10 and Year 12 will be attending the funfair at Mile End Park on Friday 30th June. Students should arrive at school as normal for morning registration at 8.40am. Period 1 will be a PSHE lesson after which we will be making our way over to the park for the funfair. Students will be dismissed from the funfair in Mile End Park from 1.30pm, unless stated otherwise. A letter with further information will be shared via email. Please note that due to Year 10 Mock Examinations taking place, all Year 10 students will complete their Chemistry Examination in the morning before heading to the funfair.

Eid Al-Adha

Our school closure for Eid Al-Adha is expected to take place on Wednesday 28thJune. Please check our school website and social media for confirmation.
