19th October 2023

Dear families,

It has been an incredibly busy half term. Students have settled into their timetables and there is an industrious atmosphere round school. The second half of this term is a key period for our Year 11 in particular who will be taking mock examinations and it is essential that students use the two-week half term break which is fast approaching to prepare for these important assessments.

Year 7 Open Events

It has been an action-packed fortnight at Stepney All Saints where we have received hundreds of prospective Year 6s and their families to visit the school and to see it in operation. Once again our students, acting as guides and facilitators, were outstanding ambassadors for the school. All students can be very proud of themselves for the way in which they have represented our community over the last few weeks and the kindness with which they have interacted with visitors. A special thank you to Shahria in Year 8 and Naina in Year 12 who both spoke to large audiences with warmth and confidence about their experiences at Stepney All Saints.

Prize Giving

On Wednesday 18th October our annual prize giving ceremony took place. We were delighted to welcome two ex-students as speakers at the event: Tasneem-Zohura Alom who works as a corporate lawyer and Dr Jahangir Alom who is an emergency medicine doctor. A wide range of prizes were awarded including Portal Trust University Scholarships for students with the highest attainment in A level subjects: Nuha Ali and Yusuf Akhlaq Khan Qurashi. Portal Trust Key Stage 3 & 4 prizes were also given to Daniel Wong and Sazid Hoque. Congratulations to all winners.

Election of Parent Governor

We currently have a vacancy on the school’s Governing Body for a Parent Governor. After the half term holiday full details will be circulated all setting out the requirements of the role and the process for election.

Sixth Form Leadership Team

Student leadership is an important part of life at Stepney All Saints. Our Post-16 students are particularly active in this area and in the past week our Sixth Form Leadership Team has been appointed. This group will work in an ambassadorial capacity while administrating support for younger students, running charity events and organising numerous activities throughout the year.

Our Sixth Form Leadership Team this year are:

The Sixth Form Deputy Leaders are:

The team will be introducing themselves to the school in the coming weeks and we are look forward to working with them as they implement their initiatives for 2023-24.

RACC update

As the 4th floor continues to be temporarily out of use, we continue to await the procurement of temporary classrooms by the Department for Education (DfE). Once these classrooms are in place, we will be able to accommodate all students on site full time. While arrangements continue to be made we will continue to rotate the teaching of Years 8 and 9 between online and face-to-face teaching as follows:

  Year 8 Year 9
Week 1 – In school Week 1 – Online learning
Week 2 – Online learning Week 2 – In school

I will update you as soon as I have further news
