4th March 2024

Dear families,

We are at the halfway point of the school year. For our Year 11 and 13 students this means the start date for their examinations can now be counted in weeks and the need to be focused and working hard is never more important. After school tuition takes place every day and there will be a full programme of revision sessions during the Easter holiday. I would like to encourage our students to take full advantage of the support on offer.

Uniform

We set high standards at Stepney All Saints and the wearing of uniform is part of these expectations. It is essential that all students wear the complete uniform including correct footwear. Black smart shoes must be worn i.e. no trainers, trainer-shoes, boots or plimsolls. For clarity we have provided pictures of what is acceptable on our website school (click HERE).

Cover lessons

Cover lessons, though temporary, play a crucial role in the continuity of education when teachers are absent. These sessions are designed to ensure that learning progresses smoothly and are not merely periods of supervision but opportunities for meaningful learning. Work is generally set on Google Classroom and is checked by the teacher or the Head of Department for the subject. Consequently, it is essential that students come to school each day with their laptops fully charged for each day in school.

Laptops

We are fortunate that all students in our school are provided with a laptop. In today’s digital age, technology has become an integral part of education, providing valuable resources and opportunities for learning. With this comes the responsibility to ensure the proper use and security of the access and hardware provided.

Our school employs various security measures to safeguard the laptops and the data stored on them. Any attempt to bypass these security measures undermines our secure computing environment. For example, personal VPN services allow users to be anonymous online, hiding their internet activity and circumventing school content filtering and monitoring. Their use is strictly forbidden. Tampering with laptops is considered a breach of school rules and may result in disciplinary action in accordance with our school’s disciplinary policy.

Should you have any concerns or questions regarding laptop security or any other matter, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Your partnership is greatly valued and appreciated.

This is a busy time of year for all of us, however I would like to highlight that on Wednesday 14th February the period of Lent commenced. This is one of the most important times of year for many Christians around the world. Lent calls us to slow down, to take time to reflect, to pray and to take a good look at our lives and how we are living them. In addition, Ramadan and the month of fasting, prayer and reflection is fast approaching for the Muslim community. With both of these in mind, I would like to wish you all the best in the run up to Easter and I will write again in the coming weeks.

Yours sincerely,

Paul Woods
