31st January 2024

Dear families,

You will be aware that the 4th floor of the school building remains temporarily out of use and that we have been working at pace to procure temporary classroom through the Department for Education (DfE). Some of you will have seen the building being assembled. Now the process of fitting out the classrooms is under way and on track to be handed over to the school on Friday 2nd February.  Classroom and office furniture is on order with deliveries expected from Monday 5th February with the aim of having the labs and classrooms fully functional following the half term break. Once all is in place we will be able to return to having functioning laboratories and other facilities. With regard to the roof of the main building, we await a decision from the DfE and I will update you in due course.

Mock Examinations Year 11

The next set of Year 11 mock examinations will soon be underway. These will take place between 5th and 23rd February 2023. The exam timetable has been shared with students and is available on the school website.  If you have a child in Year 11 please do prompt them to plan a revision timetable and get revising. Revision guidance can be found on the school website HERE.

Children’s Mental Health Week

Children’s Mental Health Week takes place from 5th – 11th February. It is widely recognised that young people have faced significant challenges over the past couple of years and this has taken a toll for many on their mental health. At Stepney All Saints we support all of our students through a variety of ways. We have school counsellors and assist families with referrals to other agencies. In readiness for Children’s Mental Health Week, groups and charities have pulled together a range of activities, resources and information to provide support and to raise awareness of the challenges our young people face. Please see below the link to some of these resources.

If your child is struggling with their mental health in any way, please do let us know so we can support in whatever way we are able.

Enrichment activities

I would again like to share a reminder that all students in Years 7, 8 and 9 take part in enrichment activities at Stepney All Saints. We are monitoring attendance and tutors will report back on attendance at Academic Review Day. An updated list of afterschool and lunchtime clubs is available to view HERE.

Turing Scheme

This week a group of over 30 students depart for a fully funded trip to Delhi, India and during the half term a further group will travel to Taiwan. This is all made possible due to funding we have received following our application to the Turing Scheme which is the UK government’s programme for international opportunities in education across the world. We are determined to provide a range of opportunities for our students and residential trips abroad as well as in the UK. These help young people to forge new friendships, enhance a range of skills and provide unforgettable life experiences. Further trips will take place later in the year which include a visit to Guernica, northern Spain and Mumbai, India. We look forward to sharing details of these and other opportunities in the coming weeks.

Parent Survey

Our annual Academic Review Day will take place on Friday 9th February during which we will be asking parents to complete a survey. Your views and opinions are important and provide valuable feedback therefore we would like to request that all parents attending complete the survey. Once we have received your responses we will update you on the results and any resulting action.
