3rd May 2023

Dear families,

We have had an excellent few weeks in school following the Easter holiday with lots of hard work in lessons and, for some of our Year 11 and 13 students, formal examinations have already started. I would like to wish all of our students including those in Year 7 the best for their exams in the coming this weeks.

House System

Over the past two years, we have been introducing a house system at Stepney All Saints. If you are not familiar with what this is, a house system is where each year group is divided into different “houses” with each house represented in all years. This creates “vertical” teams across the school. The aim is to facilitate more mixing between the different year groups, increase community spirit, peer mentoring, boost the existing rewards system, encourage more students to get involved in competitions, and to develop leadership opportunities for students across the school.

At Stepney All Saints there are seven houses named after people or groups that have helped to form modern Britain. They are:
– Equiano

– Ignatius

– Mala

– Prince

– Seacole

– Tull

– Windrush

The home page of the school website features a weekly tally of award points gained by students and tells us which is the winning house. Through regular competitions and challenges, students will be able to contribute to their House’s position on the table and gain rewards for themselves and their peers.
