Headteacher's Letter 10.09.2025

Dear families,

Welcome to the New Academic Year

As we begin a new academic year, I want to warmly welcome all our families back after the summer break. I hope you found time to rest, recharge, and enjoy being together. A particular welcome goes to those joining our school community for the first time—we are delighted to have you with us.

The year starts on a high note, with our students’ excellent examination results over the summer. These outcomes reflect not only their determination and resilience, but also the dedicated support of our staff and the encouragement of families at home. We are proud of their success and excited to build on this strong foundation as we look ahead to the year’s opportunities and challenges.

GCSE / A level / BTEC Results

The summer holidays brought excellent examination results for Year 11 and Year 13 students at Stepney All Saints. Students, families and staff deserve credit for all the hard work, support and effort that went into ensuring courses were completed successfully.

Uniform and Equipment

Our uniform is to be worn with pride and consequently we have high expectations. The full details of items to be worn are listed on the school website – https://www.stepneyallsaints.school/Uniform/ and can also be found in the student online planners. The list is clear and leaves no room for personal interpretation.

All students must wear the full and correct uniform for school, school occasions and PE lessons. We will check the uniform of all students on the gate and at tutor time. Students who come to school dressed incorrectly, without an adequate reason, may be sent home to change or parents contacted to bring in the correct items. In addition, all items of uniform, especially blazers and coats, should be labelled with the student’s name.

Students should be equipped with what they need in all lessons. In their school bag, they should have black or blue ballpoint pens, pencils, a rubber, and a ruler. It is useful for students to have equipment such as highlighter and glue sticks also. Laptops must be charged and in addition students must have the mini-whiteboard provided by the school. This equipment allows staff to get the most out of our students and failure to be fully equipped slows down learning for everyone.

I would also like to point out that water fountains are available for students to use, however students will need to bring a reusable, labelled water bottle to fill. Fountains are for filling bottles only and should not be used for direct drinking.

Finally, ID cards are issued to every student and must be worn at all times. ID cards will be used when paying for meals. If the ID card is lost, students will need to pay a replacement fee.

Enrichment / Extra-curricular activities

All students at Stepney All Saints must take part in enrichment activities during the course of the academic year. Education is about more than grades. Taking part in enrichment helps young people to develop character, confidence, and vital skills for the future. It is important to recognise that employers and universities frequently give preference to those who can demonstrate these key employability skills, so regular participation can provide a real edge.

Students will be signing up for activities which will start next week. Please ensure that your child participates in what is on offer as well as the further opportunities that arise across the year including trips and residentials. The full programme can be found on the school website – HERE.

Attendance

We kindly ask for your continued support in ensuring the highest levels of attendance which are is crucial for the ongoing success of our students and for helping them achieve their full potential. Students should always report to school as we have a medical coordinator who can support – minor ailments such as colds and headaches are not sufficient reasons for absence. However, in the event of an absence, please call 0207 790 6712 and select option 1. The line also has a voicemail service to allow parents to leave messages outside of school hours.

You said, we did: Telephone Contact
In recent feedback, families told us that it could be difficult to get through on the phone, particularly at busy times of day. We know how important it is to be able to reach us quickly when you need support or information, and we have listened carefully.
In response, we have updated our system so that multiple members of staff are now able to answer incoming calls.
This change means that calls can be picked up more efficiently, reducing waiting times and making it easier for you to contact the school when you need us.
We will continue to monitor how the system is working and make further improvements where necessary. Thank you for raising this with us - your feedback helps us provide a better service for our whole school community.

Important Information Documents

We would like to highlight a number of key school policies and documents, especially our Safeguarding Policy (click HERE). You can also find important letters and information for families in the Key Info section of the school website.

I also encourage you to follow the Stepney All Saints social media accounts, where we share regular updates and useful information. You can find us @StepneyAS on X, Instagram and Facebook.

As part of our ongoing move towards reducing paper, we communicate with parents and carers mainly by email and telephone. To help us keep you fully informed, please ensure that the school always has your correct and up-to-date contact details. We will also be writing to you in the coming weeks with further details about school communications.

Key Events for this Academic Year

The full set of term dates for this academic year are available on our website, www.stepneyallsaints.school/Term-Dates/ Parents should note that there is a two-week half term break in October.

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. We are here to support you and your child every step of the way. The school email address is info@stepneyallsaints.school.

We are looking forward to another year filled with learning, growth, and shared achievement. Thank you, as always, for the trust and support you give to the school—it makes a real difference to what our students can achieve.

Warm regards,
