Headteacher's Letter 01.07.2025

Dear families,

As the examination period draws to an end, we find ourselves preparing for the arrival of new cohorts of students who will be joining us in September in Years 7 and 12. This is an exciting time as we welcome new families into our school community. It is also a vibrant time of the year for our current students with a number of events taking place, new additions to the enrichment programme and trips abroad as well as in the UK.

New Year 7 induction

Every year on the first Friday of July secondary schools in Tower Hamlets hold their Year 7 induction days. We look forward to meeting our 208 new students who have secured their places from over 1000 applications. Please note that we are holding open mornings in the autumn term for applications for the academic year 2026-27. Bookings must be made and all information is available on our school website – HERE

Sixth Form Orientation

During the week beginning Monday 23rd June 2025, we welcomed students who have received offers to join Stepney All Saints Sixth Form for a series of induction events.

Our new Year 12 students took part in an engaging and challenging programme, designed to prepare them for the expectations of Sixth Form life and to help them begin building relationships with staff and peers.

We were delighted with their enthusiasm and commitment throughout the week, and we look forward to welcoming them back in September as they begin their A-level and BTEC courses.

Stepney All Saints Day – Friday 18th July 2025
In May 2020, following the tragic murder of George Floyd by police officers in the United States, an international movement demanding justice, equality and an end to mistreatment of Black communities was sparked. This led us to discover that Sir John Cass, after whom the school was originally named had direct links to the slave trade in Britain. As a diverse, anti-racist school, this conflicted with our values. Following a consultation with our community, the school was renamed in August 2020 as Stepney All Saints — a name that reflects our ties to St Dunstan’s and All Saints Church, celebrates diversity, and reinforces our commitment to respect and dignity for all.

We will be celebrating our school’s name change in an annual event, which this year will be held on Friday 18th July. Students in Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 will visit the Mile End Park Funfair, which will be open exclusively for our school from 11am to 2pm. Entry and rides are free. Students must wear school uniform (or PE tracksuit) and bring any necessary medication. A packed lunch will be provided if ordered by Tuesday 15th July, and all students should bring a water bottle.

The day will finish at 2pm with dismissal from the park. Those to be collected from school at approximately 2.30pm must complete the online form (click HERE) by 15th July. Please note that students whose behaviour is a concern will not attend the trip.

Culture Day

We are excited to announce that Culture Day will take place on Monday 21st July. This special event is a fantastic opportunity for both students and staff to share, learn about, and celebrate the diverse cultures that make up our vibrant school community.

The day will feature a range of activities, including a musical performance and the chance to enjoy a selection of international dishes during lunchtime.

As part of the celebrations, students are invited to wear traditional cultural dress or an item that represents their heritage, alongside their usual school uniform.
Please note that this is not a non-uniform day—cultural dress should complement the school uniform rather than replace it.

Further details will be shared nearer the time. We look forward to celebrating the rich diversity that makes Stepney All Saints such a special place.

Enrichment

Enrichment is a vital part of school life at Stepney All Saints. It plays a key role in supporting our students to grow into well-rounded, confident, and curious individuals. Whether through creative arts, sports, academic clubs, or community initiatives, our wide range of enrichment activities provides opportunities for every student to explore new interests and develop valuable life skills beyond the classroom.

This term, we would like to extend our congratulations to the students listed below, who have shown outstanding commitment by achieving the highest enrichment attendance. Their enthusiasm and dedication are a wonderful example of our school values in action.
